Wikimedia Indonesia established to encourage the growth, to facilitate, and to spread the knowledge in Indonesian language and other languages use in Indonesia for free. Wikimedia Indonesia is a non-profit association and an official local chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., that operates Wikipedia, one of the most popular websites in the world, and other projects. |
IncorporationOn 7 October 2008, Wikimedia Indonesia officially recognized as Wikimedia Foundation Inc. local chapter. Wikimedia Indonesia was incorporated by notarial deed in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 5 September 2008. Currently, all of the Wikimedia Indonesia members (who also are founders) are on further discussion regarding the bylaws draft. Soon after completed, they will also choose the Board of Trustees members and the Executive Director. ProjectsOn 8 August 2008, the Indonesian Wikipedian Commmunity together with Department of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia conducted two limited seminars in the Indonesia ICT Awards 2008. This seminar is limited to a topic of contributing proper writings to Wikipedia bahasa Indonesia, conducted in two sessions for public and organizations.

Board detailsThe Wikimedia Indonesia Board of Trustees and Board of Executives are two management boards under the ultimate corporate authority of the General Meeting of Members to direct the activities of the Association. The Association bylaws can be seen at the Wikimedia Indonesia bylaws. Other policies set by the Boards may be seen at policies. The Wikimedia Indonesia manages the budget, which pays primarily for projects operation.
